Divisional Credit Control Manager - Hampshire / Surrey. Ref: SCR 270

This is a rare opportunity for a senior credit manager to lead a large credit control department, manage the day-to-day operations, and to drive forward strategic improvements to processes and procedures.

You’ll be joining a £1.5 billion t/o business and will manage the cash-flow of a business division with annual revenues of c£400 million (and growing).

You’ll lead a credit control department of 19 people through junior managers and team leaders, in an environment that continues to evolve through acquisitions, business development, expansion and culture change.

It’s high volume business; some 35,000 sales invoices are raised per week, for a client base of more than 30,000 businesses. An Oracle accounting system is in use. Add to that an expanding “direct to consumer” business, and other projects in the pipeline, and what you have is an exceptional credit management challenge that will fully utilise existing skills and develop new ones.

Responsibilities will include:

• Operational management of the department – including recruitment, training, direction and development of staff
• Developing new targets, reporting processes and structures for increased transparency
• Transitional credit management projects
• Projects to further centralise credit control
• Reporting for senior management. This will encompass cash forecasting, aged debtor analysis, overdue debt information and actions taken, bad debt provisions and trade credit reviews.
• Provision of periodic reports & debt information for the Commercial and Operations teams.
• Customer visits.
• Hold regular debt reviews with Operation and Commercial teams regarding debt control.
• Process ownership - managing the credit checking process, the query management process, the dunning process, and the legal accounts process.
• Support the assistant credit managers and credit control team leaders in routine cash forecasting, credit management and account administration
• Review the weekly summary schedules with the assistant credit managers for a regular meeting with senior management

Knowledge & Experience Required:

• A highly motivated credit control manager who can deliver workable solutions in a business sensitive environment. Achievement and results orientated.
• Strong interpersonal skills, able to lead and motivate people.
• Skilled in the development of innovative strategy which is realistic and achievable.
• Preferably a qualified or nearly qualified graduate of the Institute of Credit Management (ICM)
• Strong communication skills, able to deal with staff and managers at all levels across the business and deal with customers effectively.
• A confident well organised self-starter who is able to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
• Experienced in using Microsoft Word and Excel (intermediate or advanced skills – e.g. pivot tables, vlookups).
• Experience of using Oracle or similar.
• Large company background.
• Must have a current driving license.
  

  Salary and Package:

• Circa £42k (negotiable depending on experience) + 10% bonus
